Stefan Szczesny in Bargemon, Var, Provence
12. june 2010 – autumn 2010
Guy and Michèle Beddington are delighted to announce the arrival of an important series of Stefan Szczesny’s imposing Shadow Sculptures in their gardens in Bargemon, South of France as a prelude to next year’s celebrations of their Gallery’s tenth anniversary, when they will host on 12th June 2010 a solo exhibition of paintings by Szczesny, who was the very first artist they exhibited.
His abundant and erotic visions of Eve translated into three metre high steel figures rise out of and dapple weightlessly with their provocative shadows in this seven hectare corner of Provençal Eden, where you are surprised and delighted by how these sensual and forceful forms blend into and emerge from the palm and olive groves of the Beddington’s gardens just 3 kilometers from the centre of Bargemon.
Next year these impressive pieces will form the core of a major open air exhibition in this idyllic location featuring sculptures and installations by some thirty internationally recognised artists, which will open on 26th June 2010 and run until the autumn.
